New exercise sessions at Bedford MS Therapy Centre

We have a new member of staff at the Centre, Scott, who will be offering a range of group sessions across the week. Scott is a recent graduate of the MSc programme at the University of Bedfordshire and some of you may have already met him as he has been volunteering at the Centre supporting balance and Parkinson’s exercise sessions.

General Exercise Sessions

These sessions are designed to challenge a range of factors to help maintain capability including balance, strength and fitness.

 Session are 60 minutes and are available either seated or standing.

Standing Mondays at 9:45

Seated Mondays at 11:00am

Cardio Sessions

Essential part of self-management of MS. In technical speak, “exercise releases myokines leading to increased IL-10 and regulatory signalling and it activates PGC-1α, driving mitochondrial biogenesis essential for Treg function”. Put simply it, can slow disability worsening.

Available either standing or seated. Sessions are 60 minute long.

Standing Cardio Wednesdays at 10:45am

Seated Cardio Tuesdays at 1:30pm

Fine Motor Skills Sessions

New to the Centre these sessions will be 60 minutes long and will include a range of activities challenging fine motor skills. They will use a range of small equipment suitable to meet individual needs.

Fridays 11:30am

Box Fit Sessions

Another fun way to get a beneficial cardio workout. Available either seated or standing. Sessions are 30 minutes long.

Seated Wednesdays at 10:45am

Mat Pilates Sessions

A second mat Pilates class has been added to the exercise programme at the Centre due to member demand. The additional session is on Thursdays at 1:00pm
