Sandy Campbell
Sandy Campbell is an established abstract painter based in Lower Stondon. A Fine Art graduate of the University of Bedfordshire and an alumnus of Digswell Arts, Sandy has exhibited in London and the Home Counties. Her work is held in several private collections.
Although her focus is primarily painting, her practice also includes a love of drawing, printmaking, photography, and 3D. A fascination with the abandonment and decay surrounding her first studio in Luton influenced the development of the complex textured surfaces she creates, as well as inspiring her 3D work using recycled materials.
Since relocating to studios in more rural settings, her work has shifted and is generally brighter and livelier in its composition, reflecting the softness of her new surroundings. Often using music, Sandy employs an intuitive approach to making her work. The highly colourful, multi-layered abstract paintings explore her passion for materiality and surface, identity and transformation.
